Long, Strong, Strange & Change

A password is like a secret key that unlocks a digital door. It can be a combination of letters, numbers, and maybe special characters that only you would know. Just like how you need a key to unlock the front door to your home, a password lets you access your online accounts, like your email, social media, or games.

A long password is a strong password, so don’t be afraid to add a few words, numbers and special characters together. If you make your password something really strange, it will also be hard for others to guess. Here is a great example of a long, strong and strange password:

It is also a great idea to change your password from time to time, because if you do, you’ll have a really good chance to keep your digital stuff safe and protected!

What Is A Password?

Long passwords are considered strong and protective for your accounts because they make it much harder for hackers to guess or crack them.

Think of a long password like a complex puzzle that's difficult to solve. When you create a password that's long, it has more combinations of letters, numbers, and symbols, making it a real challenge for someone to figure out.

Hackers often use hacking programs that try thousands of possible combinations in a short time to guess passwords.

When your password is long and includes a mix of different characters, it slows down these programs, making it unlikely that they will guess your password quickly.

A long and strong password is a great way to secure your online accounts. However, if you wanted to make your digital world super secure, there are a few ways to add extra locks!

Multi-Factor Authentication, or ‘MFA’ is a fancy way of saying ‘an extra lock on your account’. MFA adds layers of protection by asking for more than just a password when logging in to an account – it's like needing multiple keys to open a treasure chest.

You might use your long and strong password as one key and a special MFA code sent to your phone as another. This powerful combination ensures that only you can access your vault, making it nearly impossible for anyone else to break in. It’s a great way of safeguarding your most valuable digital treasures!
