What is Password Protection?

Password protection is a security process that is designed to make access to information systems secure. It allows only those with the correct password to access systems and the information within.

There are different types of password protection, the most common being password strength - a measure of how secure your password is against attack.

Multi factor authentication is another type of password protection which is used to grant access to a system, only after a person provides two or more pieces of evidence proving their identity.

Evidence would typically be;

  • something they know - a password

  • something they have - a one-time only code

  • something they are - a voice ID

It's important that you know what a strong password looks like and how multi factor authentication can safeguard you against attack.

Let's play a game and learn how to build a secure password!
